Roaming Dogs and Chinese Proverbs

Hey! Today was a one of those days. You know...the kind of day where you cross paths with a roaming dog a half mile into your run. I have strong feelings about roaming dogs that date back to my days in Corpus Christi, TX. Long, traumatic story short - pit bulls suck and dogs should be kept on leashes. And the storm canals in Corpus are disgusting. Barf.  That's where I'm at. Work was a total bummer, my new running shirt didn't perform (more on that later), but you know what? Tomorrow's a new day. It's still unwritten, as they say. Here's a random picture I found of me after a race this August (still rocking the Hawaii tan... sigh): "Close your mouth sweetie, you look like a trout." Anyway ! Ready to Launch

Hey!  I’m Tyler. I’m an elementary science teacher by day, triathlete-in-progress by night (and early morning). Here’s me, the guy in the white pullover, running a race last weekend:  I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a blog for some time. There are plenty of things I thought about chronicling in a blog: car-free life in a small city, car-free life in a big city, science teaching, book club stuff; the list goes on. Enter my latest and, dare I say, greatest idea?  I decided that I want to race Ironman Wisconsin in September 2023. For context, I’ve never completed a triathlon. I do have some familiarity in all three disciplines, however. Running is my bread and butter, I’ve swam in varying degrees of competitiveness since high school, and I’ve been hooked on the indoor bike trainer since I purchased one about a year ago.  Why Ironman Wisconsin, you ask?
